I apologize that I can't speak Danish, but I thought the people who frequent this forum might be interested in the acoustic cover versions that I record 
For those who haven't heard my work before, these are both original and speeded-up "Alvin & The Chipmunks"-style acoustic versions of classic tracks recorded by the band.
Due to the need to constantly re-upload the tracks after they expire on sites like YouSendIt.com etc, I decided to put them all on a separate page over at PutFile.com for playing directly, and on a friend's site for downloading. Here are the addresses :

I'm flattered, Mariner One thing I love about the acoustic versions is that you can put them on when you're not in the mood for loud music but still get to listen to Maiden. Glad you like them.

No, these are all recorded my me alone, no other people. So even all the sound effects like the wind noises or the creaking of the ship in 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' are done by me

about "Rime of the ancient mariner" - that's damn good, actually all your covers are great, music vice but i hope you can take som criticism cuz i don't think your singing are all that good....sorry
som of your singing are allright like on "rime of the ancient mariner" and "alexander the great" - sow i think you should practise on singing cuz your handling of your guitar is superb, you really get Iron Maiden to look great.....
Keep on playing....and singing cuz you are very very good...

Kjartan : Yes, I play between 3 and 7 guitars on most of these tracks, each dubbed over one another. Not even I can play them all at once
Nightbreedster : Yes, I know my singing isn't all that good, but I didn't claim it to be. I even put a note on my website advising that it isn't!

Hehe, the 'Huummhmhh thing'? Yes, I have the Gregorian chants at the beginning. It took 9 background voices, 2 whispering voices and 12 lead monks vocals And all of them are by me!

Don't worry, the intention of this acoustic project is to cover pretty much every track except the ones I list at the bottom of my page, so they'll all get done soon enough!

Of course it's an improvise...
To me it just sounded like some of your bends were bends a bit off, and your timing wasn't that great...
But that doesn't ruin the full picture at all.. I was very impressed when I listened to it, no doubt about that!
I play a lot of music myself.. And I know (from listening to some of your other solos, which are way harder) that you could play it tight... Hehe... Maybe just a quick first timer?
But keep us updated

You didn't read it correctly. I won't be doing the song "Age Of Innocence (How Old?)" which is the comedy b-side version they did of it where Nicko sings. I will, however, be doing the original version

Blaze's vocal range fits my own one a lot more readily than the other two singers so yes, the Blaze tracks are easier for me to sing, despite still being fairly difficult. Glad you like it, Chris!

Unfortunately, as you might guess, my versions of Maiden songs can't be played by one person with a guitar. There are multiple parts, multiple harmonies and multiple vocals, so it would take a good many clones of myself to be able to reproduce it properly. I'll stick to recording at home.
You can gladly play some of my tracks at the convention, though

For the acoustic guitar and acoustic bass I don't use a pick with a brand name on it, actually. It is a soft and fairly bend yet firm red plectrum that I have had for a long time. It gives the best resonance on acoustic strings.
For electrics and for heavy or loud picking on the acoustic, I use a thick Blackie Lawless from W.A.S.P. signature pick that I caught at a concert of there's a couple of years ago

Well, I've finally reached the milestone of song number 100 in my acoustic Maiden project and it's a relief to have gotten this far and (hopefully) consistently better since I began back in March 2006. I felt it necessary to go for an absolute classic Maiden song to mark this centenary, but also one that had a bit of gravitas and serious critical acclaim behind it. This was probably the most involved of any of the Maiden tracks I've done so far and included a good bit of researching for war and battle sound effects to flesh out the whole piece, such as cannon fire, explosions and falling shells. I like to think it's come together rather well, and I really hope you will too. Please do listen to it on headphones if you are able, as they are a number of little nuances that only ever seem to come out well on those

It is naturally very difficult to follow a track like Paschendale in any situation, but especially when all you have left to work with, if you are to follow the pattern of 'one Bruce song, one Blaze song' like I have been, is one original B-side and two cover songs I have, however done my best, and like this next track all the same It is Steve's first direct criticism of modern society which only just didn't make it onto The X Factor due to time limitation...it is the excellent...

I return once more with another all-time classic track that Maiden unfortunately never got round to playing live which is a real shame, because I know it would have rocked heavily in concert! We can only hope against hope that they pull it out of the bag for a future 'History of Iron Maiden' tour, but I won't hold my breath!

It's the end of an era...the 'Thingfish's acoustic versions of all the Blaze songs' era that is
I took the decision not to bother making a recording of Maiden's cover of The Who's 'My Generation', not only because the original track is pretty uninspiring and very repetitive, but also because the Maiden version doesn't really add anything 'Maidenic' to it, it's just a straight cover. I doubt that I could have added anything to the song, especially if the greatest band in the world doesn't really manage it! :lol:
That said, we come to my final Blaze-era track and it's one that is hardly ever mentioned on any Maiden forum I've been to, which is a crime because it is a superb little rocker. I suppose one reason it's not talked about much is that it was only available on the picture disc of 'Man On The Edge' or on the 2-cd Japanese version of 'The X Factor' and simply not that many Maiden fans have it, I guess.
Anyway, if you don't have it, I hope my version makes you go and listen to the original which is, of course, far better! Here it is...

Nice intro, but its like the aggressiveness of the original track, just doesn't come through in an acoustic version of the song. But again a good job playin' it, just impossible to create the same atmosphere on this track, as if you played it on electric guitar...

Well, I return from another lengthy hiatus, caused mainly by a busy time at work and then Christmas, with another track for my acoustic Maiden project that will hopefully have been worth the wait. It's certainly a tough one to do acoustically as the original is so perfect and amazingly constructed, but I like to think I've given it a good go! So, here it is...

Just finished off the next new song in my acoustic Maiden project and, for this one, I had to break out my best Cockney accent for a classic vocal interjection by Steve Harris...see if you can spot it in the wonderful...

Old Thingfish is back again with the next installment of his Maiden Acoustic project! It's taken the best part of a month to record this 9/1/2-minute-long song and it's been a combination of all my instruments: acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, mandolin and my electric guitar played unplugged A lot of work has gone into it, but I like to think it's been worth it. I hope you do to, and that you all enjoy it!

Yes, it's me, back after a 2 month hiatus brought about by a change in computer from Windows to Mac and subsequent problems in recording, coupled with a desire to spend my time playing Grand Theft Auto IV Have you been missing my regular deliveries of Maidenic goodness?
Anyway, this time I've returned with another rocker, a fairly simple track to ease my way back into the way of things, but a great song nonetheless!

I use Cubase SX3 software for the recording and editing, along with a Samson Q1U USB microphone.

Hehe, great to have you listening, Msh! I'm glad you're enjoying them! When I got my high quality USB microphone (after recording about 50 tracks with an old simple voice mic) you could really notice the difference, and those tapping style solos couldn't really be done on the old mic. Possibly the best example is the one I did in Children Of The Damned.

Msh: I play a Yamaha semi-acoustic guitar, a Starfire semi-acoustic bass and a semi-acoustic mandolin for these recordings. For electric instruments I play an Ibanez SZ320ex and a cream Fender Strat. I used the Ibanez unplugged in my version of 'The Legacy'

Hey, Ballaan! I'm sorry, but I don't use tablature for any of my songs, I learn all Maiden's stuff by ear and have never written up any of my arrangements! Keep trying by ear yourself and you'll get it!
You may have been wondering "Where in the heck the latest installment of the long-running Thingfish acoustic Maiden project!?", and well you might! It's (disgracefully) been two months since the last song was finished, and I don't really have too many excuses for the delay except that it had to be just right...and I hope it is!

Edit: Just listened to your cover of Transylvanin and Prowler and i think they are both really awesome i was wondering on you cover of Prowler you have some kind of funny wah sound on the part that Dave Murray plays how did you make that on the acoustic guitar?

Thanks, Msh That wah-wah effect is added after recording the melody line by using the sound effects available in the Cubase software I use to record my songs
